MUNICIPAL CHARTERS
Article 11-E of the Constitution of the State of Maryland,
and Section 12 of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, entitled "Municipal Corporations", as said Section
was enacted by Chapter 423 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland, 1955, entitled "A RESOLUTION TO AMEND
THE CHAPTER OF THE CITY OF CUMBERLAND, MARYLAND (1966
EDITION), BY REPEALING AND REENACTING, WITH AMENDMENTS,
SUBSECTIONS (a) AND (b) OF SECTION 13 OF SAID CHARTER,
PROVIDING FOR COMPENSATION TO BE PAID THE MAYOR AND
COUNCILMEN."
[Section 13(a) and (b) of the Charter of Cumberland,
Allegany County, repealed and reenacted, with amendments.

RESOLUTION
OF
TOWN OF EASTON
TO AMEND THE CHARTER
Resolution of the Town of Easton, adopted pursuant to
the authority of Article II—E of the Constitution of
Maryland, and Section 13 of Article 23—A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1973 Repl. Vol.), title "Corporations —
Municipal", sub—title "Home Rule", sub—heading "Charter
Amendments" to repeal in its entirety Article XII, Section
6, of the Charter of the Town of Easton and to add in its
place two new paragraphs to be numbered Article XII, Section
6, (a) and (b) . The new Article XII, Section 6, shall be
entitled "Penalties for Misdemeanors and Municipal
Infractions" and shall provide in paragraphs (a) and (b) ,
respectively, penalties for violations of municipal
ordinances which are declared to be misdemeanors or
municipal infractions, as authorized by Section 3, Article
23A, Annotated Code of Maryland, as amended by House Bill
1735, effective July 1, 1978. The penalty for offenses
designated "misdemeanors" shall be a fine not to exceed
$500.00 and/or imprisonment not to exceed 90 days. The
penalty for offenses designated "municipal infractions,
which are civil offenses, shall be a fine not to exceed
$100.00 for the first offense and a fine not to exceed
$200.00 for a repeat offense. In both cases of misdemeanors
and municipal infractions each day upon which the offense
continues shall constitute a separate offense.
