Baltimore City - Volunteer Workers

FOR the purpose of authorizing Baltimore City to provide, in
its discretion and as deemed appropriate, certain
benefits to volunteer City workers for injury or death
resulting from assigned tasks as City volunteer workers
and to indemnify City volunteer workers against claims
or suits under certain conditions.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1090.

This bill authorizes Baltimore City to provide benefits
to volunteer City workers for injury or death resulting from
assigned tasks as City volunteer workers and to indemnify
City volunteer workers against claims or suits under certain
conditions.

Senate Bill 634, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on April 10, 1979, accomplishes
the same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill
1090.
