AFL-CIO The Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, in
making his appointments shall give due consideration to
representation from the various geographic areas of the
State, with at least one member actively engaged in farming
and who is knowledgeable in farm and rural pollutant
problems.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

AN ACT concerning

Plumbing Fixtures — Water Conservation

FOR the purpose of requiring the use of water-conserving
water closets, urinals, sink faucets and showerheads in
buildings; prohibiting the sale of plumbing fixtures
which are not water conserving; providing for the

enforcement of the prohibitions of this Act by local

plumbing inspectors; granting rule—making authority;
providing for definitions; and providing a penalty.

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 43 - Health

325D. WATER-CONSERVING MIXTURES REQUIRED. DEFINITIONS.

(A)         IN GENERAL. IN THIS SECTION THE FOLLOWING WORDS

HAVE THE MEANINGS INDICATED:

(1)         "APPROVED SHOWERHEAD" MEANS ANY AUTOMATIC

FLOW SHOWERHEAD USING NO MORE THAN THREE GALLONS OF WATER
PER MINUTE, WITH THE RATE BASED ON A PRESSURE AT THE FIXTURE
OF 40-50 POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH.
