LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 305

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 43 - Health

565.

Any person maintaining and operating a hospital or
related institution without a license [shall be] IS guilty
of a misdemeanor[,] and upon conviction [thereof shall be
liable] IS SUBJECT to a fine of not more than [one hundred
dollars ($100.00) ] $1,000 for the first offense and not more
than [five hundred dollars ($500.00)] $10,000 for each
subsequent offense[, and each ]. EACH day [such] THAT THE
hospital or related institution [shall operate] OPERATES
after a first conviction shall be considered a subsequent
offense.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

AN ACT concerning

Merit System - Equal Opportunity Program

FOR the purpose of establishing an Equal Employment
Opportunity Program under the Secretary of Personnel
for State Merit System employees and applicants for
State employment; and generally relating thereto.

BY adding to

Article 64A — Merit System

Section 12A through 12E, inclusive

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1972 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
