State Board of Registration for
Professional Engineers

FOR the purpose of providing for the appointment and removal
of the members of the State Board of Registration for
Professional Engineers.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 75 1/2 - Professional Engineers

Section 3(d)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1975 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 75 1/2 - Professional Engineers

3.

(d) (1) Each member of the Board shall receive a
certificate of his appointment from the Governor and before
beginning his term of office shall .file with the Secretary
of State his written oath or affirmation for the faithful
discharge of his official duty. [On the expiration of the
term of any member, the Governor, with the! (2) THE
Governor, with the advice of the Secretary and the advice
and consent of the Senate as provided in subsection (c),
shall appoint THE MEMBERS for a term of five years [a
professional engineer or a member from the general public,
as the case may be.], EXCEPT THAT, OF THE ORIGINAL

APPOINTEES, THE CHEMICAL ENGINEER ONE SHALL SERVE A

FIVE-YEAR TERM, THE CIVIL ENGINEER ONE SHALL SERVE A

FOUR-YEAR TERM, THE MECHANICAL ENGINEER ONE SHALL SERVE A

THREE-YEAR TERM, THE PUBLIC MEMBER SHALL SERVE A TWO-YEAR
TERM, AND THE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER ONE SHALL SERVE A ONE-YEAR
TERM. (3) Each member shall hold office until the
expiration of the term for which he is appointed or until a

successor is duly appointed and qualifies. (4) THE

GOVERNOR, WITH THE ADVICE OF THE--SECRETARY, MAY REMOVE A

MEMBER FOR MISCONDUCT, INCOMPETENCY, NEGLECT OF DUTY, OR FOR

OTHER GOOD CAUSE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.
