Novemr. Court 1701 [118] Edward Bathurst of Ceecill County Merchant comes into open Court & acknowledgeth him :selfe Justly indebted unto our Soveraigne Lord King William ye 3d. his heires & Successors in ye full & just Sume of Tenn pounds Sterg. to be leavied upon his lands & Tenements goods & Chattles Condiconed that he make not his personall appearance here at ye next Court to be held for this County to prosecute as an Evidence on behalfe of his Majtie ast. Walter Meeks likewise came Samll. Thomas of this County Planter Security for ye Said Edward Bathurst and acknow: :ledged himselfe Indebted unto our Said Soveraigne Lord ye King his heires & Successors in ye full & just Sume of five pounds Sterg. to be leavied as Afsd. Condiconed as above Sd. wherewith they are both Contented ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Samuel Thomas of this County Planter comes into open Court & Acknowledgeth himselfe Justly Indebted unto our Soveraigne Lord King William ye Third &a. his heires & Successors &a. in ye full & just Sume of Tenn pounds Sterg to be leavied upon his Lands & Teniments goods & Chattles Condiconed that ye Said Samll. Thomas Doe not make his personall appear :ance at ye next Court to be held for Said County to prosecute as an Evidence on behalfe of his Majtie against Walter Meeks likewise Came Edward Batharst his Scurity & acknowledged himselfe Indebted unto our Said Soveraigne Lord ye King his heires & Successors in ye full & just Sume of five pounds Sterg. to be leavied as above Sd. Condiconed as Afsd. wherewith they are both Contented ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ordered by ye Court here that Thomas Gwin of this County Planter have Allowed him in ye next County Leavies ye Sume of one Thousand five hundred pounds of Tobo. pr Annum for ye Accomodateing and Cloathing of John Green A poore man belonging to this Cou[nty] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jno Dowdall Clk Kent Ss It is considered by ye Court here that whereas ye Constables & Church wardens have & doe neglect theire Duties in not Takeing that due care which belongs to them for ye preventing impotent peoples comeing and inhabitting in ye Same to ye great damage thereof It is Therefore Ordered by this Court that if any Inhabitants of Said County Shall from hence foreward Entertaine any Such person or persons as are likely to be Chargeable to ye Same without first giving Notice to Some of ye Justices of Said County in one or Two days Affter theire coming, at furthest that all such persons Shall be lyable to keepe Such Impotent person or persons at theire owne Charge without being in ye least chargeable to Said County ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jno Dowdall Clk ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mr. George Lumley having produced A Comission from ye Honorable Sr. Thomas Lawrenc[e] his Majties principle Secry of ye Province of Maryland for ye Clks place of this County Takes ye oathes Appointed by Act of Parliamt. & he having passed bond with Suffitient Securities (James Wroath and Ricahrd Mason) both of this County according to Act of Assembly in that case made & provided is Affterwards Admitted & Sworne Clerk ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
