59 Johnson Gentlemen before whom the above Acknowledgments appear to have been made and who have thereto subscribed their Names were at the time of their taking the said Acknowledgments and their subscribing the same two of the Justices of the peace in and for the County aforesaid duly commissioned and sworn to whose Acts due faith & Credit is and ought to be given in Courts of Justice and thereout The In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed County the public Seal of said County this thirtieth day of May Anno Seal Domini seventeen hundred and Eighty three Ex.d W.m Ritchie Clk of Fred.k Coty Cot Recorded 30.th June 1783 Ex.d & dl.d This Indenture made this second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three Between Philip Moroney of Frederick County Gentleman of the one part and Thomas Gassaway of the City of Annapolis and Ann Arundel County of the other part Witnesseth that he the said Philip Moroney for and in Consideration of the Sum of one hundred pounds Current Money to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Gassaway at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and therefrom doth acquit exonerate and discharge the said Thomas Gassaway his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns Hath granted bargained and sold and he the said Philip Moroney for himself and his heirs by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Gassaway his heirs and Assigns all that tract or parcel of land called Valentines Gift containing one hundred and twenty seven Acres more or less lying and being in Frederick County and patented to the aforesaid Philip Meroney the seventeenth day of June seventeen hundred and eighty three and also a Moiety of that tract or parcel of Land called Turkey Foot Bottom lying and being in Frederick County aforesaid containing fifty Acres more or less the whole of which Tract was patented to a certain Adam Hardman for one hundred Acres more or less who deeded the same to be aforementioned Thomas Gassaway and Philip Meroney with all the Improvements and Appurtenances thereunto belonging To have and to hold the said Tracts or parcels of Land unto the only proper use and behoof of him the said Thomas Gassaway his heirs and Assigns for ever and the said Philip Meroney and his heirs the said Tracts or parcels of Land and every part thereof against him and his heirs and every other person claiming by or under him or them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal the day and Year above written Signed Sealed and delivered Philip Meroney (Seal) in presence of A C Hanson At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written Viz.t Rec.d |
