471) On the back of the aforegoing Instrument of Writing was thus Endorsed (Viz.t) Received on the day and year first within Written of and from the within names James Murray the Consideration within mentioned being the sum of Two thousand pounds Current Money Test Tho.s Rutland A C Hanson Maryland Sc.t On the 28.th Day of November 1785 Came the within named Thomas Rutland before the Subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court and acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be his Act and Deed and the Ground and appurtenances herein mentioned to be the Right Title and Estate of the within named James Murray his heirs and assigns forever according to the true intent and meaning thereof at the same time came Catherine the wife of the aforesaid Thomas Rutland before me and relinquished all her Dower and right of Dower of in and to the Ground within mentioned and being by me privately examined apart from and out of the Hearing of her husband acknowledged that she did the same Willingly and freely without being induced thereto by fear or threats of ill usage by her Husband of fear of his Displeasure A C Hanson 8½ sides Recorded December the 29.th 1785 Ex.d & Del.d This Indenture made this twenty ninth day of September in the Year one thousand Seven hundred and eighty five Between the Mayor Recorder Aldermen and Common Council men of the City of the Annapolis of the one part and James Williams of the same City Merchant of the other part Witnesseth that the said Mayor Recorder Aldermen and Common Council men for themselves and their successors in Consideration of the yearly Rent and the covenants conditions and agreements herein after mentioned made and contained to be paid and performed on the part and behalf of the said James Williams his Executors Administrators and Assigns Have and by these presents Do Grant Demise Lease and to Farm Let unto the said James Williams his Executors Administrators and assigns all that piece or parcel of Ground situate and being in the City of Annapolis to wit Beginning at a Locust Post standing in the Line of Prince Georges Street one hundred and forty ^six^ feet from the South East End of M.r Gilbert Middletons Garden and sixty four and a half feet from the End of the present old Prison and with the said Street Two hundred and Ninety feet to the Locust post the Beginning of the Ground this day Leased to Absalom Ridgely standing at the North End of a Street laid out by M.r Richard Mackubin and called by the name of Creigh Street and running thence south forty Degrees and three fourths of a Degree West fifty feet to a Locust Post standing in (the) |
