435) Virtue of and in pursuance of an Act of Assembly "for the emission of Bills of Credit not exceeding Two hundred thousand pounds on the security of double the value in Lands to defray the exponees of the present Campaign "they the said Thomas Johnson James Johnson Baker Johnson and Roger Johnson were the best and highest Bidders for the Lot piece or parcel of Land herein after discribed and Mentioned to be conveyed at and for the price of Nine hundred and Twenty five Pounds for which they gave their Bond with security agreeable to the said Act and have since fully paid and satisfied to the Treasurer of the western Shore the said purchase Money together with all Interest due thereon Now This Indenture Witnesseth that the said Clement Hollyday and Gabriel Duvall Commissioners aforesaid for and ^in^ consideration of the said payment and other the premisses and by Virtue of any & all act or acts of assembly in such case made and provided Have granted Bargained sold conveyed and released and by these presents Do grant bargain sell convey and release to the said Thomas Johnson James Johnson Baker Johnson and Roger Johnson their Heirs and assigns all that the said Lot piece or parcel of Land being a part of a Tract of Land called Friendship lying in the said County distinguished by the number two Beginning at the end of the fourth line of the aforesaid Tract called Number one and running thence with the Tract called Fountain Low North sixty Degrees East Fifty three perches North twenty eight Degrees East twenty eight perches to the eleventh Line of Friendship and with it north eighty one Degrees East fifty five perches South twenty three degrees East Two hundred and sixty eight perches to a Deed conveyed by Joseph Sim to Samuel Fleming for Part of Friendship then by and with said Deed reversed South sixty five Degrees West one hundred and twenty eight perches to the end of the fifth Line of Number One then by and with the said Line reversed to the Beginning containing Two hundred and sixteen acres of Land more or Less with the appurtenances To have and To hold the said Lot Piece or parcel of Land with its rights members and appurtenances to them the said Thomas Johnson James Johnson Baker Johnson and Roger Johnson their Heirs and assigns as Tenants in common and not as joint Tenants to the only proper use and behoof of them the said Thomas Johnson James Johnson Baker Johnson and Roger Johnson their Heirs and assigns for ever and to or for no other use Intent or purpose whatsoever warranted and defended to them the said Thomas Johnson James Johnson Baker Johnson and Roger Johnson their Heirs and assigns agreeable to all or any acts or act of assembly in such case made and provided In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set Hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written Clement Hollyday (seal) Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of G Duvall (seal) Nathan Hammond On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written Viz Maryland Sc.t On the first day November 1785 came before me one of the Judges of the General Court the within Named Clement Hollyday and Gabriel Duvall and acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be their Act and Deed and the Lot piece or Parcel of Land within mentioned to be conveyed to be the right and Estate of the within Named Thomas Johnson James Johnson Baker Johnson and Roger Johnson their Heirs and assigns for ever according to the true intent and meaning of the within Deed and the act of Assembly such case made and provided 7¼ sides Before A C Hanson Recorded Nov.r the 1.st 1785 |
