264 Maryland fs.t Know all men by these Presents that I James West of the City of Annapolis am held and firmly bound unto Henry May of Ann Arundel County in the full and Just sum of twelve hundred Pounds Current Money to be paid to the said Henry May his certain Attorney Executors Administrators or Assigns to the which Payment well and truly to be made and done I bind myself my heirs Executors and Administrators in and for the whole firmly by these Presents Sealed with my seal and Dated this tenth Day of November Anno Domini 1784 Whereas the above named Henry May hath this Day Executed a Deed of Mortgage to the above bound James West for part of a Tract of Land called Bessington and sundry Negroes goods and Chattels therein specified And also whereas the above bound James West hath become security for the said Henry May's performing and fulfilling the Judgment of the General Court in an Action of Replevin now there depending between Richard Watkins Plaintiff and Henry May Defendant Now the Condition of the above obligation is such that if upon the Determination of the suit above Mentioned between the said Richard Watkins Plaintiff and the said Henry may Defendant the said Henry May shall do perform and fulfil in all things the Judgment of the General Court therein that then if the above bound James West shall and do give the said Henry May a perfect good and sufficient releas from the above mentioned Mortgage without any further or other Consideration whatsoever then this Obligation to be Null and Void otherwise to be and remain in full force and Virtue in Law Signed Sealed and Delivered In Presence of James West (Seal) Tho.s D Merrick William Williams 3 Recorded the 10.th November 1784 Ex.d & Dld This Indenture made this sixteenth Day of December in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty three Between John Courts Jones of Montgomery County and State of Maryland of the one Part and John Lashley of the County and State aforesaid of the other Part Witnesseth that the said John Courts Jones in Consideration of the following Negroes to wit One Negro Woman named Jenny One Negro Girl called Alice One Negro Girl called Henny and One Negro Girl called Jenny to him the said John Courts Jones by the sad John Lashley Sold and Delivered the receipt Whereof is hereby Acknowledged hath Given Granted Bargained and sold and by these Presents Doth give Grant Bargain and sell unto the said John Lashley Part of a Tract of Land called the Sugar Tree Camps lying and being in Washington County beginning at two Bounded Whte Oaks Standing on the East side of a (Hill) |
