258 And further Assurance of ^the^ Right and Title of purchaser or purchasers thereof his or their Heirs and Assigns for ever under and in Virtue of these presents In Witness whereof the said Thomas Dorsey hath hereto set his Hand and seal the Day and Year first Above Written Signed Sealed & Delivered In Presence of The words containing three hundred Thomas Dorsey (Seal) Acres more or less Inserted in the 9.th Line of the third page before Execution R Ridgely Elizabeth Ridgely At the foot and on the back of the aforegoing Deed was written as follows to wit Received the Day and Year within Mentioned of and from Evelyn Pierepont the sum of five shillings Current Money the Consideration within Mentioned Witness R Ridgely Elizabeth Ridgely Thomas Dorsey State of Maryland County of Ann Arundel to wit Be it remembered that on the sixth Day of October seventeen hundred and Eighty four Came before us the subscribers to Justices Assigned to keep the Peace for the County aforesaid Thomas Dorsey within named and Acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing as his Act and Deed and the Lands and Premisses therein Mentioned to be the right and Estate of the Within named Evelyn Pierepont his Heirs and Assigns for ever according to the True Intent and meaning thereof And the Act of Assembly in such Case Provided At the same time came Elizabeth Wife of the said Thomas Dorsey who being by us Privately Examined appart from and out of the Hearing of her said Husband relinquished all her right of Dower to the Lands and Premisses within Named and further Declared that she made this Acknowledgment freely and Voluntarily without being Induced thereto by Fear of or Threats of Ill Usage from her said Husband or Through fear of his Displeasure Certified before Elisha Warfield James Kelso Ann Arundel County fs.t I hereby Certify that Elisha Warfield and James Kelso Gentlemen before whom the above Acknowledgment was made were at the time of He making the same and still are two Justices of the Peace for Ann Arundel County aforesaid and as such due faith and Credit is and ought to be given as well in Courts of Justice as thereout the County In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Affixed the seal of 19½ Seal Office this eighth Day of October in the year seventeen hundred and Eighty four Recorded the 8 Day of Oct.r 1784 Nich Harwood Cl AA Coty |
