297 did release and relinquish all her Right Title and Claim of Dower of in and to the said Land and Appurtenances and did acknowledge and declare that she did the same voluntarily and freely without being induced thereto by Fears or Threats of or ill Usage from her said Husband or through Fear of his Displeasure William Stewart Rob.t Couden Ann Arundel County fs.t I hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that William Stewart and and Robert Couden of the County aforesaid Gentleman Before whom the above Acknowledgement appears to have been made was at the making thereof and still are two of the Right Honourable the Lord Proprietary his Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid duly and legally authorized commissioned and quallified and to all such Acknowledgments before them so made Due faith and Credit is and ought to be given as well in Justice Court as thereout In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and affixed the publick Seal of Ann Arundel County this thirteenth Day of January in the L S Year of our Lord seventeen hundred and seventy two John Brice Cl A A Cot.y Received of M.r Nathan Hammond the sum of seven shillings and nine Pence sterling for the Use of Lord Baltimore it being the Alienation Money on the within Land by Virtue of a Commission from Dan of S Tho.s Jenifer Esq.r his said Lordships Agent and Receiver General J Brice Recorded the 14.th Day of January 1772 X.d This Indenture made the thirteenth Day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy one Between Sarah Potts Widow William Potts Merchant Sarah Eleanor 6 sides Potts Spinster Benjamin Mackall and Rebecca his Wife formerly Rebecca Potts Spinster all of the City of Annapolis in Maryland in North America of the one Part and Michael Arthur of the Parish of Saint paid for Michael in the Island of Barbados Planter of the other Part Whereas the said Sarah Potts William Potts Sarah Eleanor Potts Benjamin Mackall and Rebecca his Wife (in Right of the said Rebecca) and Richard Potts an Infant under the Age of twenty one Years together and undivided are and do stand seised in fee and possessed of and in a certain Peice or Parcell of Land containing by Estimation three thousand and four square Feet with the messuage or Tenement and other Buildings thereon erected and built And also are and do stand seised of the Reversion in Fee after the Death of Rebecca Matthews of the Parish and Island aforesaid (Widow) of and in one other certain Peice or Parcell of Land containing by Estimation one thousand nine hundred and forty seven square Feet contiguous and adjoyning to the aforesaid Peice or Parcell of Land both which said Peices or Parcells of Land are situate in the Bridge Town in the Parish and Island aforesaid in two certain Streets or Places there called Palmetto Street (and) |
