519 M.d This day Came James Bowles Esq.r and acknowledged the w.thin conveyance to be his Volentary act and Deed for the use w.thin Menconed Mad.n Jane Bowles Being secretly examind as the Law Directs Wittness our hands this fifth Day of March Anno Dom 1718/19 H P Jowles W.m Watts These are to certifie that the Worshipfull Henry Penguin Jowles and W.m Watts are two of his Lordship the Lord Propr Justices of y.e peace of Saint Maries County In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixt the county seal this seventh Day of March Anno Dom 1718 Th Jenifer Cl Recorded May the 2.th 1719 C Baltemore Instructions power and Authority to be observed and pursued by Charles Carroll My Agent and Receiver Generall in Maryland Given him by me this twelfth day of September One thousand seven hundred and twelve Upon Your Arrivall in Maryland You are to publish my Directions to you for opening the Land office and that for the future the Caution usuall paid for Land warrants in Tobacco According to My Last Condicon of Plantations is to be paid in Money upon the takeing ^out^ of such Warrants at the Rate of one peny p pound and that haveing found a great Inconveniency in the parcelling out Warrants by the people Obtaining the same so as noe account could be kept regularly when such Warrants were out but severall surveyors have returned certificates for more Land then was contained in the warrants upon which they Grounded their surveys being (Cheifly) |
