(804) 824 Maryland fs To all Christian People to whome these presents shall come S.r Thomas Lawrence Barronett of the Port of Annapolis in Maryland his Maj.ties Secretary of Maryland sendeth Greeting Know Ye that I the s.d S.r Thomas Lawrence being bound to England and it convenient to leave constituted some worthy and Discreet pson in my Absence to Ord.r and Dispose of what Estate belongs to me in this Province have preposed and obtained the consent of his Ex.ncy Francis Nicholson Esq.r Cap.t Gen.ll & Governour of this Province to accept and undertake y.e ordering and Disposing my Estate in this Province During my Absence Therefore I have and by these p.rsents doe constitute ordaine and put and appoint him the s.d Francis Nicholson Esq.r my true and Lawfull Att.ry and representative for me and in my name to enter into my Lott or Lotts for Lands that I hold in Annapolis and also take possession of any good Chattles and Creditts to me appertaining in Maryland And y.e said Land or Lotts of Land and p.rmisses good and Chattells for me and in my name to hold posses and Injoy or to bargain sell Lease Farme or otherwise Allien and sell in Fee simple fee taile or otherwise as to my said Att.ry shall seem expedient and to that purpose to make or cause to be made any Deed or Deeds Grants Feoffments or Coveyances for y.e s.d Land or Lotts of Land and p.rmisses and same to signe seale and Deliver for me and in my name according to y.e forme of y.e Law if his Province and if need require to diliver possession by turf and twig psuant to any such Deed or grant of Land and Finally to ^doe^ all things necessary and requisite in Law for y.e fitt and compleate perfeiting and finishing any such Deed either of Feoffment or Lease of Lands And I Doe also hereby give & Grant unto my said Att.ry full power and authoryty to ask Demand Leavey require recover and receve all Debts dues or Dutys belonging or Appertaining to me in Maryland either in Tob.o Money goods or Chattles from any pson whatsoever by any meanes whatsoever and by Default or Neglect of payment to sue Implead Imprison any pson or psons whatsoever and receipt of any Debt or Debts Acquittances or other Discharges for me and in my name to make seale and Deliver Attorneys one or more under my said Att.rys to make and constitute and the same at his will and pleasure to revoake and make void compssitions or agreements with any Debtor or Creditor to me to make compound and agree for me and in my name and alsoe to bargaine sell or Deliver all or any my goods or chattles whatsoever in Maryland according to Instructions herewith left w.th my said Att.ry to act pforme execute and doe all things necessary and requesite in y.e premisses as fully Largly and Amply as I my self might or Could doe If I were psonally p.rsent Hereby promising and engageing to Ratifie allowe and for ever hold Firme and valid all & whatsoever my s.d Att.ry shall Lawfully doe and execute in the p.rmisses by virtue of these p.rsents In Wittness whereof I Doe hereunto sett my hand seale this twenty third day of May in the tenth year of y.e Reigne of King William the third &c.a Annoq Domini 1698 Signed Sealed and Delivered Thomas Lawrence (seale) in presence of us Hen Jowles Jn.o Hamond W Bladen |
