725) 735 Port of Cows Know ye that John Thurber Comander of the ship Philip of New York Maryland his Ma.ties plantatcon in America hath duely entred in this Port the One and Thirtieth of May last & the sixth ins.t June & put on Land Two hundred and fifty hhgds and a Pcell in Buck Maryland Tobacco being all the Goods and Merchandizes taken in at his Ma.ties said Plantacon in America and which hath here paid his Ma.ties subsidy & Additionall duty in discharg of his Bond this voyage taken by the Chief Officers at the Port of Potuxent in Maryland aforesaid as P Certificat thence dated the Eighth of Aprill last under the hand and seale of Henry Low Collector Witness our hands & seal of Office this Tenth of June 1684 Anno R Rs Car scdi &c &&&ri Loco sigil Tho Cole Coll Tho Moore p Cust.r W Bowles p Comt.r Maryland fs Whereas I find that Information has been made against me W.m Taylard and Writen that I should give out how that severall Lawes have been Torne out of Some Record booke in the Secretarys Office Since their Removall to this Port Annapolis these are therefore to Certifie that to the best of my Remembrance I should say that the Land Office Records lay very indecent on the floore and that some Leaves were Loose and Shattered and without speedy Care be taken of those Records they Might be More Abused or to that purpose since Which upon my summary before his Excellency the Governo.r to Declare What I Know in that Matter M.r Henry Denton M.r Henry Wriothesley & My selfe did goe to y.e said Secritaryes Office and Made Inspection and p.rticular seruting into the said Records and doe Not find any Leafe Amiss since their Removeale aforesaid the said Record Record being Compared with the former List taken at S.t Maries Wittness my hand the 13.th day of March Anno Dm 1695 Charles Carroll W Taylard Hen Denton Recorded the first Day of Ap.ll 1696 Hen Wriothesley March 31.st 1696 Received of Coll Casparas Harman one bond Bond of M.r Thomas Pemberton for seaventeen thousand two hundred pounds for payment of Eight thousand six hundred pounds of tob Dated the second Day of May 1684 I say Recd by Mee And I Doe hereby fully Release and Discharge the said M.r Harman from all Receipts he had formerly Given Mee for the same Bond or any other papers Relateing to y.e same Testes Ro Carvile Hen Denton Record y.e first Day of Aprill Hen Wriothesley 1696 |
