(6) Upon retirement for special disability a
member shall receive a service retirement allowance if he
has attained the age of 50; otherwise he shall receive a
special disability retirement allowance which shall
consist of:

(c) Upon the death of a member retired on a special
disability retirement allowance, one half of the
allowance calculated above shall be continued to [his
widow, if he leaves a widow] THE MEMBER'S SURVIVING
SPOUSE, to continue [during her widowhood] UNTIL DEATH OR
REMARRIAGE; or if there be no [widow] SURVIVING SPOUSE,
or if the [widow] SURVIVING SPOUSE dies or remarries
before the youngest child of such deceased retired member
shall have attained the age of 18, then to [his] THE
child or children under [said age if he leaves children,]
EIGHTEEN divided in [such] A manner as the board in its
discretion shall determine to continue, as a joint and
survivorship pension for the benefit of the child or
children under [said] THAT age until every child dies or
attains [said] THAT age.

53.

(9) Upon the receipt of proper proofs of the death
of a member in service who had either more than two years
of creditable service or whose death arose out of or in
the course of the actual performance of duty, provided
that in either event the death was without wilful
negligence on the part of the deceased, and upon the
finding and certification by the board that [such] THE
death so occurred, there shall be paid:

(a)    To [such] THE person having an insurable
interest in the life of the deceased, as [he] THE
DECEASED shall have nominated by written designation duly
executed and filed with the board of trustees, otherwise
to [his] THE DECEASED'S estate, [his] THE DECEASED'S
accumulated contributions; and

(b)    To [his widow, if he leaves a widow] THE
MEMBER'S SURVIVING SPOUSE, to continue [during her
widowhood] UNTIL DEATH OR REMARRIAGE; or if there be no
