The 1965 Voting Fights Act will expire in August of
1975, if it is not extended. The extension of this Act
is needed for it has become a cornerstone in the fight
for a free America.
The General Assembly of Maryland urges the President
of the United States and the Congress to enact
legislation to extend the Voting Rights Act of 1965 until
1985; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
this Body requests the President of the United States and
the Congress to extend the 1965 Voting Rights Act; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
the President of the United States and the Maryland
Congressional Delegation: Senators Charles McC. Mathias,
Jr., and J. Glenn Beall, Jr., Senate Office Building,
Washington, D. C. 20510; and Representatives Robert E.
Bauman, Clarence D. Long, Paul S. Sarbanes, Marjorie S.
Holt, Gladys H. Spellman, Goodloe E. Byron, Parren J.
Mitchell, and Gilbert Gude, House Office Building,
Washington, D. C. 20515.

A House Joint Resolution concerning
Delmarva Railroad System
FOR the purpose of recommending to the Board of Directors
of the U. S. Railway Association , the Interstate
Commerce Commission, the Rail Services Planning
Office of the Interstate Commerce Commission, the
Senate Commerce Committee of the United States
Senate, and the House Commerce Committee of the
United States House of Representatives that [[it]]
they favor a plan whereby the Southern Railway
System or any other solvent and privately owned
railroad may purchase and operate any portion or
portions of the Delmarva Railroad System.
WHEREAS, The Southern Railway System has made a
proposal to acquire and operate the rail service on the
Delmarva peninsula; and
