SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all of the territory
hereby annexed into the Town of La Plata be zoned R-2 (Single-Family
Residential) after the effective date of this resolution until such zoning is amended
as provided by law.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all of the territory
hereby annexed into the Town of La Plata and the persons residing therein, shall
after the effective date of this resolution be subject to all the laws, ordinances and
regulations of said Town.
SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the date of the
adoption of this Charter Amendment Resolution is 27 July, 1972, and that the
amendment to the Charter of the Town of La Plata hereby proposed by this
enactment shall be and become effective on 11 September, 1972, unless a proper
petition for a referendum hereon shall be filed as permitted by law. A complete
and exact copy of this Charter Amendment Resolution shall be posted in the Town
Hall until 30 September, 1972, and a copy of the Title of this Resolution shall be
published in a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of La Plata and the
area to be annexed, not less than four (4) times, at weekly intervals, before 11
September, 1972.
SECTION 6. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as soon as the
charter amendment hereby enacted shall become effective either as herein provided
or following a referendum, the Town Manager of the Town of La Plata shall cause
to be sent separately, by registered mail, to the Secretary of State of Maryland, to
the Department of Legislative Reference of Maryland, to the Archivist and
Records Administrator, Hall of Records of Maryland, to the Clerk of the Circuit
Court for Charles County, Maryland, and to each member of the legislative
delegation of Charles County, Maryland, the following information concerning the
charter amendment:
(1) the complete text of this Charter Amendment Resolution as hereby enacted;
(2) the date of the referendum election, if any, held with respect thereto;
(3) the number of votes cast for and against the question contained in the
charter amendment, whether by the Council of the Town of La Plata or in a
referendum;
(4) the effective date of the charter amendment; and
