CHESAPEAKE BEACH                                     2157

WHEREAS, the Town of Chesapeake Beach has traditionally permitted
persons who own property in the Town but reside elsewhere to vote in Town
elections,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Sections 10, 22 and 27 of the
Town Charter, concerning qualifications of Councilmen, the Mayor and the Voters
respectively, be and hereby are repealed and re-enacted, as follows:

"10. Qualifications:

Councilmen shall be qualified voters of the Town as defined in Section 27:"

"22. Qualifications:

The Mayor shall be a qualified voter of the Town as defined in Section 27:"

"27. Qualifications of Voters:

Every person who, (1) is a citizen of the United States, (2) is at least eighteen
years of age, (3) is a resident of or owns property within the corporate limits of the
Town, and (4) is a registered in accordance with the provisions of this Charter,
shall be a qualified voter of the Town. For the purposes of this section, ownership
shall include real estate whether held in fee individually, jointly, or tenant by the
entirety and the spouse of said owner is entitled hereunder to vote. Every qualified
voter of the Town shall be entitled to vote at any or all Town elections." and

Further resolved that this Resolution amending the Charter shall take effect
immediately upon the expiration of the legal time period.

CERTIFICATE OF RECORDING OFFICER

The undersigned duly qualified Clerk of the Town Council of Chesapeake Beach,
Calvert County, Maryland, does hereby certify that the above Resolution is a true
and correct copy of the Resolution as adopted at a duly authorized meeting of the
Town Council of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, held on June 23, 1972, and
properly introduced at a duly authorized meeting of the Town Council held on
May 26, 1972.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the
Town Council this 24th day of June, 1972.

I have read the attached amendments to the Town Charter, passed by the Town
Council at a duly authorized meeting held on June 23, 1972, and approve same. I
have requested the Town Clerk to publish amendments according to and as
provided by Town Charter.
