2154                                    MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

(e)   holds or owns real or personal property in the TOWN OF CENTREVILLE
either individually or as co-owner, of which his interest shall have an assessed value
of $100.00 or more, land upon which all taxes, charges, and assessments shall have
been paid on or before December 31st of the calendar year preceding any Town
Election;] and

(f)    is registered in accordance with the provisions of this Charter and rules or
regulations relating to the same; shall be a qualified voter of the Town to vote in
such Town Elections. For the purposes of this section, a co-tenant by the entireties
shall be construed to hold and own a one-half interest.

SECTION 2: And be it further resolved that this Resolution shall take effect
this 29th day of December, 1971.

CHARLESTOWN

RESOLUTION of The Commissioners of Charlestown, adopted pursuant to
the authority of Article 11-E of the Constitution of Maryland and Article 23A of
the Annotated Code of Maryland to amend Section 36(a) of the Charter of
Charlestown and the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil County (1961 Edition),
said Code being Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, to
repeal the charter provisions requiring (1) a one year period of residence and
ownership of taxable property assessed at not less than $500.00 to be eligible to
serve as a Town Commissioner, and (2) voters at municipal elections to reside in
the Town for six months preceding a municipal election and to amend the
minimum voting age from 21 years to 18 years.

SECTION 1: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSIONERS OF
CHARLESTOWN that Section 36(a) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil
County be and the same is hereby amended, with text to be deleted in double
parentheses and new text underlined: (This symbology has been changed - Editor.)

36(a) Qualifications. Said Commissioners shall be five in number, a
President and four Commissioners, who shall be citizens of the United States, at
least 21 years of age and bona fide residents of said Town of Charlestown [for at
least one year next preceding the date of their election, and shall each in his own
right own taxable property in the Town assessed at not less than Five Hundred
($500.00) Dollars]; and all citizens of the United States [above 21 years of age,
who have actually resided in the Town for six months next preceding the election
at which they shall offer to vote,] 18 YEARS AND OLDER WHO ARE
RESIDENTS OF THE TOWN OF CHARLESTOWN shall be entitled to vote
for said Commissioners.
