BOARD OF SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
(B) ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE PROHIBITIONS OF THIS
SECTION SHALL BE GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR; AND UPON
CONVICTION THEREOF SHALL BE SUBJECT TO A FINE OF NOT
MORE THAN $100.00 OR BE CONFINED IN JAIL FOR A PERIOD OF
NOT MORE THAN THREE MONTHS OR BE BOTH FINED AND
IMPRISONED IN THE DISCRETION OF THE COURT.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 338 of Article 43 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1972
Supplement), title "Health," subtitle "Plumbing," to clarify the powers of the
Washington County plumbing board with regard to the State Board of
Commissioners of Practical Plumbing, and to clarify the language therein.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 338 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title "Health,"
subtitle "Plumbing," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
338.
The provisions of this subtitle shall not apply to Washington County, except as
hereinafter provided:
(1) There shall be a Washington County plumbing board which shall consist of
five members. Two of the members shall be master plumbers residing in the
county, and they shall be appointed annually by the County Commissioners of
Washington County. The County Commissioners shall also select annually two
members from among the residents of the county. The compensation of these four
members shall be as provided by the County Commissioners. The compensation
shall be paid, to the extent possible, from the fees of applicants for certificates or
permits. The Washington County health officer shall be the fifth member of the
board, and he shall receive no additional compensation for serving as a member of
the board.
The Washington County plumbing board shall have the sole power to grant
certificates and permits to persons desiring to work at the plumbing business in
Washington County in the same form and manner as certificates and permits are
granted by the State Board of Commissioners of Practical Plumbing. [Said] THE
board, subject to the approval of the County Commissioners of Washington
County, [shall have the power and are hereby authorized to] MAY make [such]
rules and regulations for the issuance of certificates or permits, the examinations of
applicants therefor, the entrance into plumbing work, the plumbing trade or
business in Washington County and the conduct thereof, as [it may deem] ARE
