THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE AND THE
DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICES MAY
UTILIZE FUNDS APPROPRIATED FOR HOSPITALS, NURSING
HOMES, AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS WITHIN THEIR JURISDICTION
FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING DAY-CARE SERVICES FROM
PUBLIC OR PRIVATE AGENCIES OR FOR PAYMENT TO PERSONS,
GROUPS OR ORGANIZATIONS WHO ESTABLISH DAY-CARE
CENTERS FOR THE ELDERLY.

THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE AND THE
DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND FISCAL SERVICES SHALL
JOINTLY REPORT TO THE 1975 GENERAL ASSEMBLY A STATEMENT
ON THE PROGRESS, EFFECTIVESS, AND COSTS OF THE
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE.

NOTHING IN THIS SUBTITLE SHALL BE CONSTRUED TO INCLUDE
A RELATIVE CARING FOR ANOTHER RELATIVE, OR A NEIGHBOR
OR FRIEND CARING FOR AN ADULT BY MUTUAL CHOICE AND
AGREEMENT.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 9-I(b) and 37(b) of
Article 64A of the Annotated Code of Maryland ([[1972 Replacement Volume
and]] 1972 Supplement), title "Merit System," correcting certain errors in the
laws relating to the State Merit System.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 9-I(b) and 37(b) of Article 64A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland ([[1972 Replacement Volume and]] 1972 Supplement), title
"Merit System," be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
9-I.
(b) Those employees who are transferred shall become classified employees of
the State, subject to the provisions of the State Merit System law under this article
and shall be placed in that position which is comparable or most closely compares
with their former position, without further examination or qualification, and
