(3) The assistant State's attorneys shall have the same legal
powers as the State's Attorney to represent the State before grand
juries and in the trial of criminal proceedings.
(4) The State's Attorney's appropriation for special work and the
employment of extra help is five hundred dollars ($500), to be spent
only with the approval of the judge of the Circuit Court.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 8 (e) of
Article 38A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Fires and Investigations," subtitle "Fire Pre-
vention Commission and Fire Marshal," subheading "Fire Mar-
shal," to provide for the inspection of any place of employment by
the State Fire Marshal and the procedures relating thereto.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 8 (e) of Article 38A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Fires and Investigations,"
subtitle "Fire Prevention Commission and Fire Marshal," subheading
"Fire Marshal," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

(e) (1) The State Fire Marshal may at all reasonable hours enter
any building or premises except those actually occupied for private
dwelling purposes within his jurisdiction for the purpose of making
an inspection, which, under the provisions of this article, he may
deem necessary to be made.
(2) Subject to regulations promulgated by the Fire Prevention
Commission, a representative of the employer and an authorized
representative of his employees shall be given an opportunity to
accompany the State Fire Marshal or his designee during any in-
spection of any place of employment. Where there is no authorized
employee representative, the State Fire Marshal or his designee
shall consult with a reasonable number of employees concerning
matters of safety and health in the place of employment.
(3) All information reported to or otherwise obtained by the State
Fire Marshal or his designee in connection with any inspection or
proceeding under this subtitle which contains or might reveal a
trade secret as defined hereafter shall be considered confidential,
except that such information may be disclosed to other officers or
employees concerned with carrying out this subtitle or when relevant
in any proceeding under this subtitle. In any such proceeding the
