CHAPTER 41
(Senate Bill 550)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (1)
of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Supple-
ment), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle
"State's Attorney," to establish the office of assistant State's
Attorney in Garrett County and the salary therefor, to change
the State's Attorney's allowance for postage, office and travel
expenses, and providing for discretion by the County Commis-
sioners in excess of a certain amount of the allowance.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (1) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and At-
torneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

40.

(1) In Garrett County (1) the State's Attorney's salary is seven
thousand dollars ($7,000). (2) The State's Attorney's allowance
for postage, office and travel expenses is a minimum of six thou-
sand dollars ($6,000) [.] , and a maximum of ten thousand dollars
($10,000), provided however that any amount in excess of six
thousand dollars ($6,000) shall be at the discretion of the Board of
County Commissioners. (3) The State's Attorney may appoint an
assistant State's Attorney to serve at the pleasure of the State's
Attorney. The assistant State's Attorney's salary is five thousand
dollars ($5,000) per annum.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

CHAPTER 42
(Senate Bill 613)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 34 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County (1963 Edition),
being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Allegany County," subtitle "Circuit Court,"
as last amended by Chapter 142 of the Acts of 1959; to require
the County Commissioners of Allegany County to pay not less
than a specified sum to the Clerk of the Circuit Court for the
augmentation, maintenance and upkeep of the Circuit Court
library.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 34 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County
(1963 Edition), being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
