2084                               Municipal Charters

Repeal Section—Personnel, 71 Unclassified and classified service, in its
entirety.

REENACT that section as follows:
Personnel:

71. Unclassified and classified service.

(a)   Civil service divided into unclassified and classified service. The
civil service of the town shall be divided into the unclassified and classified
service.

(b)   Unclassified service. The unclassified service shall comprise the
following offices and positions, which shall not be included within the merit
system.

(1)   The Mayor, the Councilmen, and persons appointed to fill vacan-
cies in these positions.

(2)    The heads of all offices, departments, and agencies and members
of town boards and commissions who are elected officials or are appointed
by the elected officials to committees or commissions at annual salaries
of less than $3,500.00.

(3)   Part-time, temporary, and unpaid offices and positions.

(c)   Classified service. The classified service shall comprise all posi-
tions not specifically included by this section in the unclassified service.
All offices and positions included in the classified service shall be subject
to any merit system rules and regulations which may be adopted.

Note: A copy of the town charter of Chesapeake Beach as contained in the
"Code of the Public Local Laws of Calvert County" is available for public
inspection at the office of the Town Clerk.

CERTIFICATE OF RECORDING OFFICER

The undersigned duly qualified Clerk of the Town Council of Chesa-
peake Beach, Calvert County, Maryland, does hereby certify that the
above Resolution is a true and correct copy of the Resolution as adopted
at a duly authorized meeting of the Town Council of Chesapeake Beach,
Maryland, held on September 24, 1971, and properly introduced at a duly
authorized meeting of the Town Council held on August 27, 1971.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal
of the Town Council this 25th day of September, 1971.

ATTACHMENT TO RESOLUTION TO AMEND TOWN CHARTER.

I have read the attached amendments to the Town Charter, passed by
the Town Council at a duly authorized meeting held on September 24,
1971, and approve same, I have requested the Town Clerk to publish
amendments according to and as provided by Town Charter.
