Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume), title "Courts," subtitle
"Court of Appeals," to follow immediately after Section 29A
thereof and to be under the same title and subtitle; to repeal all
the provisions of law in Article 41 of the Code relating to the
State Library; to provide that the State Library be part of the
Judiciary Department and operate under the supervision of the
Court of Appeals of Maryland; and relating generally to the State
Library and to its operations and the duties of certain persons
in relation thereto.] AND TO ENACT NEW SECTION 155 IN
LIEU THEREOF TO STAND IN THE PLACE OF SECTION
155 REPEALED, TO PROVIDE UNDER ONE SECTION ALL
OF THE PROVISIONS OF LAW IN ARTICLE 41 OF THE
CODE RELATING TO THE STATE LIBRARY; TO PROVIDE
THAT THE STATE LIBRARY SHALL OPERATE UNDER
THE SUPERVISION OF A LIBRARY COMMITTEE TO BE
APPOINTED BY THE COURT OF APPEALS OF MARYLAND;
AND RELATING GENERALLY TO THE STATE LIBRARY
AND TO ITS OPERATIONS AND THE DUTIES OF CERTAIN
PERSONS IN RELATION THERETO.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 155, 159, 160, 162, 163, 164, 165, 166, 167, 168, 169
and 170 of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971
Replacement Volume), title "Governor—Executive and Administra-
tive Departments," subtitle "The Executive Department," subhead-
ing "State Library," be and they are hereby repealed and that the
subheading "State Library" of that Article, title and subtitle be and
it is hereby repealed, all to read as follows:
[155.
The State Library shall be assigned to the Executive Department.
The Director shall have and exercise the rights, powers, duties, ob-
ligations and functions now or hereafter conferred by law; and, in
addition, shall report in writing to the library committee as often
as may be required by the committee, upon the work and operations
of said office. The library committee of the Court of Appeals shall
continue as now provided for by Sections 166 to 170, inclusive of
this article.

The State Library shall be kept in that part of the Court of Ap-
peals building assigned and used for the purpose.
160.
The Director of the Library shall not allow any book, map or
document to be taken out of said library except by the executive
members of the General Assembly and Judges of the Court of
Appeals.
162.
He shall have bound the laws and journals of the General As-
sembly and shall distribute and forward the same when bound, under
the direction of the Governor, to the persons entitled by law to re-
ceive the same, that is to say: To the Governor of the State of
Maryland, one copy of each; to the Comptroller, Treasurer, Com-
