CHAPTER 416
(Senate Bill 473)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 532(a)
of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Health," subtitle "Cosmetologists," to pro-
vide for certification of persons attending out-of-state beauty
culture schools , DELETING AN OBSOLETE PROVISION and
correcting certain errors therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 532 (a) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle "Cosme-
tologists," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

532.

(a) No person shall be permitted by the Board to take an examina-
tion to receive a certificate as an operator unless such person shall
be at least seventeen years of age, have an eight grade education, or
its equivalent, and has been registered as a student and has had
training, as hereinafter provided in this subtitle, in a beauty school
duly registered by the Board, or by another state having substantially
equivalent or more stringent standards for registration than those
imposed by Section 536 of this Article,
AND ALLOWING PER-
SONS TRAINED IN MARYLAND BEAUTY SCHOOLS TO TAKE
THEIR STATE EXAMINATION of at least AFTER 1,500 hours
training, or [serve] has served as an apprentice in an approved
beauty shop for a period of not less than two years; provided, how-

ever, that the Board may permit a person to take an examination

without the prior studentship herein required if such person shall
establish, to the satisfaction of the Board, that he or she has been an

operator in the active practice of beauty culture for at least twenty-
four months within the five
years next preceding June 1, 1947.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

CHAPTER 417
(Senate Bill 475)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, subsection
SECTION 7 (b) of Article 77A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1971 Supplement), title "Higher Education," subtitle "Com-
munity Colleges," to establish a scale based on the number of full-
time equivalent students which sets the maximum amount of State
participation in the
funding of Community Colleges. TO CHANGE
