152) That we James Dickson of Frederick County Samuel Hunter Clerk Richard Richardson John Cary and John Kimber of the Same County Gentleman are held & firmly bound unto the Right Honourable Frederick absolute ^Lord^ and proprietary of the provinces of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltimore &.c in the Sum of two thousand Pounds sterling to be paid to the said Lord proprietary his Heirs and successors to which payment well and Truly to be made and done we bind our selves and each of us out and every of our Heirs Executors and Administrators jointly and Severally for and in the whole firmly by these Presents Sealed with out Seals and Dated this Seventy Day of April 1757 Whereas his Excellency Horatio Sharpe Esq.r Governor of Maryland by his Instructions under the hand and Seal of the Lord Propry bearing date the thirtieth Day of March is Authorized and impowered if he should think it for his Lordships service to farm or otherwise contract for the Collection and Receipt of his Lordships quit Rents And the Said Horatio Sharpe thinking it fit for his Lordships Service to farm the Rents of all the Lands lying ^upon and^ to the Eastward of the South Mountain in Frederick County and also to impower the said James Dickson to collect and receive the Rents of all the Lands Lying to the westward of the Said Mou^n^tain in the County aforesaid hath entred into Articles of Agreement bearing equal date with these Presents with the above named James Dickson for that Purpose Now the Condition of the above Obligation is Such that if the Said James Dickson shall from time to time and at all times hereafter well & truly observe perform fulfil make and Keep all & singular the Articles Covenants Agreements and payments in the Said recited Articles on his part to be Observed performed (fulfil) |
