400) in the Law shall be reasonably Advised Devised and Required In Witness whereof the said Joseph Smith the Elder hath hereunto Affixed his hand and Seal the Day and Year above Written Sealed and Delivered in the Presence of Joseph Smith Seal John Hepburn Nicholson Jun.r On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed Viz.t Sept.r 14.th 1753 Came before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court of the Province of Maryland Joseph Smith the Elder and Acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be his Act and Deed and the Lands and Premisses aforesaid therein mentioned to ^be^ the right and Estate of the within Joseph Smith the Younger to and for the Uses and Purposes mentioned in the said Deed according to the directions of the Act of Assembly in such Cases made and Provided John Hepburn 16 sides Recorded Sept.r 14.th 1753 Ex.d To all Christian People to whom these Presents shall come Greeting Know Ye That I Charles Carroll of the City of Annapolis Merchant for and in Consideration of the Natural Love and Affection I bear to my wellbeloved son John Henry Carroll as also for and in Consideration of the Sum of Five shillings Sterling Money of Great Britain to me in hand paid at or before the Ensealing and Delivery of these Presents Have Given Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these Presents Do give grant Bargain Sell Alien Enfeoff and Confirm unto him the said John Henry Carroll All that Tract of Land called Floyds Adventure situate lying and being in Ann Arundel County on the Bodkin Creek of Patapsco River Containing three hundred and twenty Acres of Land together with all the Improvements Profits & Appurtenances thereon or thereto in any wise belonging and appertaining As also all that Lot of Ground in the City of Annapolis aforesaid N.o (24) Situate on Duke of Gloucester Street with its Appurtenances To have and to hold the said Tract of Land called Floyd's Adventure and the said Lot of Ground N.o (24) with their and every of their Appurtenances to him the said John Henry Carroll his Heirs and Assigns for ever as well against me the said Charles Carroll as against any Person or Persons Claiming or to Claim by from or under me In Witness whereof and the foregoing Premisses I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of September One Thousand Seven hundred and fifty three Sealed and Delivered in the Presence of C Carroll Seal W.m Webb Daniel Bennett 1753 (On) |
