235) Charges in the Law of the said Jacob Holland his Heirs or Assigns do make Acknowledge Suffer and Execute any Deed or Instrument as the said Jacob Holland his Heirs or Assigns or his or their Council learned in the Law shall reasonably Advise Devise or Require for the further and better Assurance Surety or sure making of the said Lands and Premisses to him the said Jacob Holland his Heirs and Assigns for ever more and that he the said Jacob Holland his Heirs & Assigns shall and may forever at all times hereafter Peaceably and Quietly hold have Use Occupy Possess and Enjoy the said Land and Premisses without the Lett Suit Trouble or Disturbance of him the said Thomas Lucas his Heirs and Assigns or of any Person or Persons whatsoever In Witness whereof the said Thomas Lucas hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and Year above Written Signed Sealed & Delivered Thomas Lucas Seal In Presence of Us Richard Jones Harmon Greathouse On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed Viz.t Received of the within Named Jacob Holland Eight Thousand five hundred Pounds of Tobacco being the Considerations within mentioned P me June 19.th 1751 Testis John Darnall Thomas Lucas Memorandum that on the 19.th Day of June Anno Domini One Thousand seven hundred and fifty one the within Named Thomas Lucas came before me whose Names are hereunto Subscribed and Acknowledged the within Indenture to be his Act and Deed and that the Land and Premisses therein mentioned to be the Right of the within Named Jacob Holland his Heirs and Assigns forever according to the True Intent & meaning of the within Indenture the same Day came Ann the Wife of the said Thomas Lucas and being by Us Examined according to Act of Assembly did own that she gave her Voluntary Consent to the Sale of the said Lands without the Fear Threats or Compulsion of her said Husband In Witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my Name the Day and Year above Written John Darnall Dec.r 18.th 1751 Received for the Use of the Right Honble the Lord Baltimore nine Shillings Sterling being for the Alienation fine of the within Land Benj.a Tasker Recorded Dec.r 18.th 1751 8 Ex.d This Indenture made the Second Day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and fifty one Between Notley Thomas and Rebeckca his Wife in the Province of Maryland Planter of the one part and John Griffith of Calvert County in said Province Planter of the other part Witnesseth Whereas Samuel Griffith late of Calv.t County Deceased in fee of the Land hereafter mentioned made his last Will and Testament in Writing and amongst other things therein declared his Will to be that y.e Land he then Lived on should be equally divided Between his Daughters Ann Rebecca and Barthsheba as in and by the same Will duly Proved and Recorded in the Prerogative Office may appear and afterward Died And Whereas the above Named Rebecca being one of the Daughters of the said Samuel Griffith in the s.d Will mentioned who hath Intermarried with the said Notley Thomas This Indenture further Witnesseth that y.e said Notley Thomas & Rebecca his Wife for and in Consideration of the Sum of forty Pound Sterling to them in hand paid by y.e said John Griffith the receipt whereof the said Notley Thomas and Rebecca his Wife do hereby Confess and Acknowledge Have Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Released and Confirmed and by these Presents Do fully freely and Absolutely Grant Bargain Sell Alien Release and Confirm unto the said Jn.o Griffith his Heirs & Assigns for ever All their Right of Land in Calv.t County that was (Left) |
