Volume and 1969 Supplement), title "Courts," subtitle "Circuit
Courts for the Counties—Court Stenographers," to provide that in
Prince George's County no person shall engage in the bail bonds-
man business in criminal cases until he shall have been approved
under such rules as the Circuit Court for Prince George's County,
Maryland, may adopt, and to provide for the fee charged for
bonding.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 30A of Article 26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1966 Replacement Volume and 1969 Supplement), title "Courts,"
subtitle "Circuit Courts for the Counties—Court Stenographers," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and to
read as follows:
30A.
The circuit courts for each of the counties of the second and sev-
enth judicial circuits are authorized to prescribe by rule of court
the terms and conditions of bail bonds filed in the circuit court or
with any inferior court, trial magistrate or justice of the peace in or
for each county respectively. The power granted herein includes but
is not limited to prescribing the qualifications of and fees charged by
bondsmen. Violations of any rule of court promulgated hereunder
shall be considered contempt of court and punished as for contempt.
In addition to those rules promulgated by the Seventh Judicial Cir-
cuit and pertaining to Prince George's County it is hereby provided
that in Prince George's County no person shall engage in the busi-
ness of becoming surety for compensation on bonds in criminal cases
until he shall have been approved by such rules as the Circuit Court
for Prince George's County may adopt. The said bondsmen so ap-
proved shall pay a license fee of one (1) percent of the gross value
of all bonds written in all courts of the county. The fee shall be paid
to the court as prescribed by the rules of court. The said fee shall be
used for the payment of any expenses incident to the administration
of this Act. Any absolute bond forfeitures collected may be used to
defray the above expenses.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.
