CHAPTER 586
(House Bill 377)

AN ACT to add new Section 354B to Article 48A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1969 Replacement Volume)
(1969 REPLACEMENT VOLUME AND 1969 SUPPLEMENT),
title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Nonprofit Health Service Plans,"
to follow immediately after Section 354A thereof and to add new
Section 470C to Article 48A of the same Code, title "Insurance
Code," subtitle "Health Insurance," to follow immediately after
Section 470B thereof and to add new Section 477B to Article 48A
of the same Code, title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Group and
Blanket Health Insurance," to follow immediately after Section
477A thereof, to prohibit the exclusion of policyholders from cov-
erage for disability or term of sickness while confined at home
because of medical treatment elsewhere under sickness and accident
insurance policies or certificates issued in the State of Maryland.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 354B be and it is hereby added to Article 48A of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1969 Replace-
ment Volume)
(1968 REPLACEMENT VOLUME AND 1969 SUP-
PLEMENT), title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Nonprofit Health
Service Plans," to follow immediately after Section 354A thereof, and
that new Section 470C be and it is hereby added to Article 48A of
the same Code, title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Health Insurance,"
to follow immediately after Section 470B thereof, and that new Sec-
tion 477B be and it is hereby added to Article 48A of the same Code,
title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Group and Blanket Health Insur-
ance," to follow immediately after Section 477A thereof, and all to
read as follows:

No certificate or policy of sickness and accident insurance delivered
or issued for a deliverance
EFFECTIVE ISSUED after July 1,1970
to
COVERING any person in this State, including both individual cer-
tificates or policies and group certificates or policies which provide
coverage for disability or term of sickness while confined at home,
shall exclude payments or benefits to that person because he leaves the
confinement of home for medical treatment. Coverage extends to
those persons confined at home, who are otherwise eligible, irrespec-
tive of the place of medical treatment.

470C.
