the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume), title
"Natural Resources," subtitle "Fish and Fisheries," subheading
"Tidal Waters," to follow immediately after Section 275 thereof, and
to read as follows:
275A.
No person except bona fide residents of Calvert County THE
STATE OF MARYLAND shall, in any of the waters thereof except
the Patuxent River OF THIS STATE, take or catch snapping turtles,
with a seine, gill net, pound net, trap net, fyke net, eel pot, or any
kind of net or device whatever for taking snapping turtles. THE DE-
PARTMENT OF GAME AND INLAND FISH SHALL PRESCRIBE
BY REGULATIONS THE LEGAL METHODS OF TAKING
SNAPPING TURTLES. Any person violating any of the provisions
hereof shall, upon conviction, be fined one hundred dollars ($100.00)
or sentenced to the house of correction for not less than three months
or more than one year, or both, in the discretion of the court.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 449
(Senate Bill 393)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 317B of
Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replace-
ment Volume and 1969 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles," sub-
title "Operation of Vehicles Upon Highways," to provide that in
Carroll County any person who operates a motor vehicle on a
private property which is used by the general public is subject
to the same laws as if the motor vehicle were being operated on
a public highway.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 317B of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1967 Replacement Volume and 1969 Supplement), title "Motor
Vehicles," subtitle "Operation of Vehicles Upon Highways," be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
317B.
In Allegany, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick, Howard, Prince
George's, Talbot and Washington counties any person operating a
motor vehicle on private property which is used by the public in
general in violation of the provisions of this subtitle shall be
deemed in violation of the law to the same extent as if the motor
vehicle were being operated on a public highway and the violation
carries the same penalty.
