Michael Murphey of this County was Sumond to answer unto

Thomas Williams of a plea that he render unto him the full &

just Sum of three hundred pounds of good Sound Merchantable

leaf tobacco in Caske which to him he oweth & unjustly deteineth &ca

And whereupon the sd Thomas by Peter Dent his Attorney Saith that

the Sd Michael y^e eight day of June in y^e year of our Lord 1689 at

St.Maries ,that is to say at Monocan within the Jurisdiction of this

Court, by his Certain Bill Obligatory which the sd Thomas with y^e

Seal of the sd Michael signed bringeth into Court y^e date whereof

is the day & year afd, Acknowledged himself to be indebted to the

Said Thomas in the sd Sum of 300 pounds of tobacco to y^e which

paym^t y^e sd Michael bound himself firmly by the sd Bill Never-

the less the sd Michael the said Sum according to the tenour of y^e

Said Bill hath not paid to the damage of the said Thomas of Eight

hundred Pounds of tobacco & thereof he brings this Sute &ca.

in Caske Convenient at Some Town or port in y^e sd County at or upon y^e 10^th day of
