CHAPTER 267
(House Bill 612)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 264(g)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Fish and
Fisheries," subheading "Part 2. Tidal Waters," amending the
Natural Resources law relating to the regulation of pound and
stake nets.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 264 (g) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1967 Replacement Volume), title "Natural Resources," subtitle
"Fish and Fisheries," subheading "Part 2. Tidal Waters," be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
264(g).
It shall be the duty of each licensee to maintain his stakes in good
condition, and promptly to remove and renew any stakes that may
be unsound, broken or liable to go adrift. It shall be unlawful to
permit or allow to remain in the water any pound or net stake for a
period greater than thirty days following the removal of the net from
each stake, or the discontinuance of fishing of said nets. If the
licensee does not comply with the provision of this subsection, the
Department shall immediately notify the licensee by registered mail
to remove the stakes within thirty days after receipt of notice. In
the event the licensee fails to comply with said notice, he shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined
not less than two hundred dollars ($200.00) nor more than one
thousand dollars, . or be imprisoned in the House of Correction for not
less than three months nor more than six months, or both fined and
imprisoned, at the discretion of the court [the Department shall
remove any stakes remaining and shall immediately recall and can-
cel for a period of two years all fishing licenses of the person failing
to comply with the notice.]
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 268
(House Bill 613)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 33(a) of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Carroll County (1965 Edition,
being Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Carroll County," subtitle "County Commissioners," to pro-
vide that applications must be made to the Department of Build-
ing Permits and Inspectors for building permits in Carroll County.
