federal and state financing of foreign trade; promote investments,
sales, distributions and exchanges of products, displays, educational
and cultural data, and other such services between the State of
Maryland and the Free Countries of Central and South America;
and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this Joint Resolution be sent to the
Governor of Maryland.

(House Joint Resolution 87)
House Joint Resolution congratulating the Marine Police Division,
Department of Chesapeake Bay Affairs, State of Maryland on the
occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding, commending
the accomplishments and esprit of the personnel of such division,
and recognizing the value of such Police in the protection and
preservation of human life, property and the fruits of the sea in
and on the waters of the State.
Whereas, The Marine Police Division, Maryland Department of
Chesapeake Bay Affairs, is the lineal descendant of the Maryland
State Oyster Police Force, established by the General Assembly of
Maryland in 1868, and
Whereas, The General Assembly of Maryland is aware of the
progress of the original force over the last century to the point
where it is now recognized nationally as a superior group of well
trained men whose esprit is high and who have demonstrated their
ability to protect and preserve property and human life and to en-
force the laws for the protection and conservation of water life in
the State, ofttimes selflessly and at personal risk, and
Whereas, The General Assembly of Maryland wishes to express
its thoughts on the foregoing matters; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Maryland
Police Division, Department of Chesapeake Bay Affairs be con-
gratulated upon the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its existence,
and be it further
Resolved, That the personnel of the Division be commended for
their demonstrated bravery, effectiveness and dedication to the serv-
ice of the State in the performance of their mission, and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be sent to the Governor
of Maryland, the Chairman of the Chesapeake Bay Affairs Commis-
sion, the Director of the Department of Chesapeake Bay Affairs and
to the Commander of the Division in sufficient number for distribu-
tion to each office of the Division.
