Whereas, There have been numerous complaints about the lack of
communication and coordination among the several State agencies
involved in travel and tourist promotion; and
Whereas, Several agencies presently have brochures, maps and
other kinds of literature describing the many attractive activities
now administered by the different branches of State government; and
Whereas, There is no central coordinating office, mail room or
publications specialist whose function and responsibility it is to co-
ordinate the widely diversified State activities in this very important
area; and
Whereas, the administrative branch of the State government will
doubtless be reorganized at some future time, but in the meanwhile
this coordinative function is being sadly neglected despite the po-
tential which might be realized if this gap did not exist; and
Whereas, The administrative branch of State government is
currently being considered for a major reorganization which prob-
ably will not take place in the immediate future or before the peak
period for reaching travelers before they plan their trips; now there-
fore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Depart-
ments of Economic Development, Forests and Parks, Chesapeake
Bay Affairs, Planning, the State Roads Commission, and THE GAME
AND INLAND FISH COMMISSION THROUGH the Board of
Natural Resources be requested by the General Assembly and the
Governor to establish an interdepartmental coordinating committee
to meet regularly at least once a month in order to insure their
communication and cooperative efforts in promoting the wide variety
of tourist attractions in this State AND TO REQUIRE THE BOARD
OF NATURAL RESOURCES TO SUBMIT A PROGRESS REPORT
TO THE SUBCOMMITTEE ON TOURISM OF THE LEGISLA-
TIVE COUNCIL DURING ITS 1967 SESSION.

House Joint Resolution requesting an enlargement of the Economic
Development Commission's Advisory Committee on Tourism.
WHEREAS, The Economic Development Commission has appointed
an Advisory Committee on Tourism which is composed of private
Maryland citizens who are expert in the field of tourism and travel,
whose function it is to advise the Commission and the Economic
Development Department with respect to the improvement of Mary-
land's tourism programs; and
Whereas, This group is in an ideal position to oversee the travel
survey to be conducted during Fiscal Year 1968 and the other new
facets of this State's participation in the competitive field of tourist
promotion and attraction; and
