758                              LAWS OF MARYLAND                      [CH. 546

VOTERS OF HOWARD COUNTY AT A SPECIAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 1965. THE COST OF SAID
SPECIAL ELECTION SHALL BE BORNE BY THE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS. AT THE ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 6,
1965, THE POLLING PLACES IN THE COUNTY SHALL BE
OPEN BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8 O'CLOCK A. M. AND 6
O'CLOCK P.M. THERE SHALL BE PRINTED ON THE BAL-
LOTS OR BALLOT LABELS TO BE USED AT SAID ELECTION
THE TITLE OF THIS ACT AND UNDERNEATH SAID TITLE,
ON SEPARATE LINES, A SQUARE OR BOX TO THE RIGHT
OF AND OPPOSITE THE WORDS: "FOR AN EXECUTIVE
COUNTY COMMISSIONER AND ASSOCIATE COMMISSION-
ERS" AND A CORRESPONDING SQUARE OR BOX TO THE
RIGHT OF AND OPPOSITE THE WORDS: "AGAINST AN EXEC-
UTIVE COUNTY COMMISSIONER AND ASSOCIATE COMMIS-
SIONERS", SO THAT THE VOTERS OF THE COUNTY SHALL
BE ABLE TO DESIGNATE HIS OR HER DECISION FOR OR
AGAINST THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT. IF A MAJORITY
OF THE VOTES CAST IN SAID ELECTION SHALL BE "FOR
AN EXECUTIVE COUNTY COMMISSIONER AND ASSOCIATE
COMMISSIONERS" THEN THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT
SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE, BUT IF A MAJORITY OF THE
VOTES CAST IN THE ELECTION SHALL BE "AGAINST AN
EXECUTIVE COUNTY COMMISSIONER AND ASSOCIATE
COMMISSIONERS" THEN THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT
SHALL BECOME OF NO EFFECT AND SHALL BE NULL
AND VOID.

Sec. 4. 5. And be it further enacted, That subject to the provi-
sions of Sections 2 and 3 , 3 AND 4 above, this Act shall take effect
on June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 546
(Senate Bill 305)

AN ACT to authorize the Board of County Commissioners of Alle-
gany County to expend not in excess of twenty-four thousand
dollars ($24,000), and to levy taxes therefor to defray a portion
of the cost of flood damage in the City of Westernport, and relat-
ing generally to the authority and conditions for this payment.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Board of County Commissioners of Allegany County may
expend from the general funds of the County a sum of money not in
excess of twenty-four thousand dollars ($24,000), and may levy taxes
therefor, to defray a portion of the cost of repairing and renovating
flood damage in the City of Westernport, Maryland, which occurred
during the month of April, 1964. This payment may be made to the
Mayor and Commissioners of Westernport or it may be made to the
Treasurer of the State of Maryland as reimbursement for an advance
payment of this sum made by the Board of Public Works of Mary-
land.
