the two additional members appointed in 1966 and the term of the
remaining incumbent to be filled in 1965 and running to 1971, the
Governor shall appoint new members for five-year terms to fill each
vacancy. Beginning with the new appointees in May of 1966, each
Board member shall receive an annual expense allowance of $200.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 517
(Senate Bill 467)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 14A-7
and 14A-8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel
County (1957 Edition, being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Chap-
ter 14A. People's Court of Anne Arundel County", as added by
Chapter 894 of the Acts of 1963, to provide a judgment docket, to
change the time during which a Judge can change sentence after
judgment has been pronounced, to defining subpoena powers, to
provide the procedure for punishment for direct contempts of court
and relating generally to the jurisdiction and administration of the
People's Court of Anne Arundel County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 14A-7 and 14A-8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Anne Arundel County (1957 Edition, being Article 2 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel County", sub-
title "Chapter 14A. People's Court of Anne Arundel County", as
added by Chapter 894 of the Acts of 1963, be and they are hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

14A-7. The Judges of the People's Court of Anne Arundel County
shall have all the authority, power, civil and criminal jurisdiction in
the whole of said county, heretofore vested in the justices of the peace
designated as trial magistrates and other justices of the peace of said
county. In civil cases, the Judges shall have jurisdiction in cases
where the amount in controversy does not exceed One Thousand Dol-
lars ($1,000), which jurisdictions shall be exclusive in cases involving
amounts not exceeding Three Hundred Dollars ($300), and provided
that all cases where the amount in controversy exceeds Five Hundred
Dollars ($500) may be immediately transferred or removed for trial
by any party to the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County. The
determination of any matter adjudicated by the court shall be evi-
denced by a judgment entered on a docket which shall be maintained
in such manner as the court may by rule determine. A copy of the
docket entries, certified by the Chief Clerk, or by a deputy clerk, shall
be evidence in any cause or proceeding in any court, or before any
justice of the peace, or agency of this State.
THE COURT, HOW-
EVER, SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED AS A COURT OF
RECORD.
