CHAPTER 60
(Senate Bill 90)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 46 and
47 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Carroll County", sub-title "County Treas-
urer and Clerk to the County Commissioners", Section 47 thereof
having been amended by Chapter 634 of the Acts of 1951, amend-
ing the laws concerning the County Treasurer of Carroll County in
order to remove obsolete references therein to his former duties
as Clerk to the County Commissioners, and changing the said sub-
title to read "County Treasurer".

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 46 and 47 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County", sub-title "County
Treasurer and Clerk to the County Commissioners", Section 47 there-
of having been amended by Chapter 634 of the Acts of 1951, be and
they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

County Treasurer

46.

The legal voters of Carroll County, at [each] the general election
held in said county in the year 1966 and every four years thereafter,
shall elect by ballot a treasurer for said county [, who shall also be
clerk to the County Commissioners]; the said treasurer, before he
enters upon the duties of his office, shall take an oath, in due form of
law, to well and faithfully perform the duties of county treasurer
[and clerk to the County Commissioners], and shall also execute and
deliver to the County Commissioners a good and sufficient bond, to be
approved by them, in the penal sum of twenty thousand dollars, for
the faithful performance of his duty as treasurer; and if the said
treasurer shall fail to execute said bond within sixty days after he
shall have been appointed or elected, he shall forfeit his office, and
the County Commissioners shall declare the said office vacant, and
shall proceed to fill the same by the appointment of some suitable
person for the remainder of the term for which he shall have been
elected or appointed; and such appointee, before he enters upon the
duties of his office, shall execute and deliver a bond of the same tenor
and in like manner, and take an oath in due form of law to faithfully
perform the duties of his office as hereinbefore directed; the County
Commissioners may, at any time, demand of said treasurer such
further bond, with such further security, as in their judgment the
interest of the county may require, and shall prescribe for the said
treasurer office hours, during which said office shall be kept open.

47. The said Treasurer [and Clerk] shall receive and pay over
according to the directions of law or the order of the County Com-
missioners the proceeds of all taxes levied in said county, and shall
keep full accounts of all monies received and paid by him, and of all
matters relating to the duties of his office, with all vouchers relating
thereto; [he shall attend all meetings of the County Commissioners,
make minutes of and record their proceedings, and perform such
other duties as they shall from time to time require of him; he shall
