tificate of title on a motor vehicle which originally or formerly was
a vehicle not subject to the titling tax, and relating to the condi-
tions for such deduction.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 29(a-l) be and it is hereby added to Article 66˝
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Motor
Vehicles", sub-title "Administration—Registration—Titling", to fol-
low immediately after Section 29(a) thereof, and to read as follows:

29.

(a-1) If the motor vehicle for which a certificate of title is applied
was originally or formerly a vehicle not subject to the tax imposed by
this section, there shall be deducted from the tax imposed by this
section any amount previously paid by and collected from the present
owner as a retail sales tax on that vehicle, under the sub-title "Retail
Sales Tax Act" in Article 81 of this Code.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1965.

of the Acts of 1892; Chapters 208 and 475 of the Acts of 1894;
Chapters 61 and 188 of the Acts of 1896; Chapters 106, 293, 321
and 379 of the Acts of 1898; Chapter 111 of the Acts of 1908;
Chapter 309 of the Public Acts of 1910; Chapter 542 of the Pri-
vate Acts of 1910; Chapter 227 of the Acts of 1955; Sections 262,
266, 273, 274, 275, 276, 277 and 284C of Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1964 Supplement—herein-
after referred to as "the Code"), title "Public Education", sub-
title "Chapter 27. Free Scholarships"; to repeal Sections 260, 261,
263, 264, 265, 267, 268, 272, 280, 281, and 282 of Article 77 of the
Code, title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 27. Free Scholar-
ships", and to enact new Sections 260, 261, 263, 264, 265, 267, 268,
272, 280,281 and 282 in lieu thereof, said new Sections to stand in the
place of the Sections so repealed; to add new Sections 265A, 265B,
265C, 265D, and 265E to Article 77 of the Code, title "Public Edu-
cation", sub-title "Chapter 27. Free Scholarships", to follow im-
mediately after Section 265 thereof; to add new Sections 268A
and 268B to Article 77 of the Code, title "Public Education", sub-
title "Chapter 27. Free Scholarships", to follow immediately after
Section 268 thereof; to add a new Section 284 to Article 77 of the
Code, title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 27. Free Scholar-
ships", to follow immediately after Section 283A thereof as hereby
enacted; to add a new Section 283A to Article 77 of the Code,
title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 27. Free Scholarships",
to follow immediately after Section 283 thereof; to repeal and re-
