MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR

Dear Miss McCurdy:

I take pleasure in advising you that I have today appointed you a
Member of the House of Delegates for Baltimore County for the remainder
of a term of four years from the General Election of November 6, 1962,
to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of the Honorable A. Gordon
Boone. Your Commission is enclosed, herewith.

I am confident that your judgment and ability in performing the
duties of this office will be to the advantage of the State and its people.

Enclosed is a form required by the Subversive Activities Act. Please
sign and return to the Hon. Lloyd L. Simpkins, Secretary of State, for
filing.

The Speaker pro-tem administered the oath of office to M. Jacqueline
McCurdy to serve in place of A. Gordon Boone.

The Speaker pro-tem asked for nominations for Speaker of the House.

Mr. Lowe, duly seconded, moved that Hon. Marvin Mandel be
nominated for Speaker of the House of Delegates as the Speaker for the
Special Session 1964.

There were no other nominations.
