System", to permit members of the Teachers' Retirement System
who have withdrawn accumulated contributions from the system
to redeposit the contributions in order to receive service credit,
with certain exceptions.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 110 (7) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 8.
Teachers' Certificates, Salaries and Pensions", sub-heading "Teach-
ers' Retirement System", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
110 (7). Should any member in any period of six consecutive
years after last becoming a member be absent from service more
than five years, or should he withdraw his accumulated contribu-
tions, or should he become a beneficiary or die, he shall thereupon
cease to be a member. However, any such person who has withdrawn
his accumulated contributions (other than one who has become a
beneficiary or died) may UPON APPROVAL OF THE BOARD
subsequently redeposit in the retirement system the amount of accu-
mulated contributions previously withdrawn, with interest to the
date of redeposit, and regain previous service credit with the condi-
tion, however, that he may not retire within three years after the
date of re-entry in the retirement system.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

(Senate Bill 118)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 139 of
Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Health", sub-title "Practitioners of Medicine", to provide
that the Act shall not be construed to prevent the administration of
anesthetics for medical purposes by a legally qualified dentist ex-
cept as a medical specialty.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 139 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Practitioners of Medicine",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Any person shall be regarded as practicing medicine within the
meaning of this sub-title who shall append to his or her name the
words or letters "Dr.", "Doctor", "M.D.", or any other title in con-
nection with his name, with the intent thereby to imply that he or
she is engaged in the art or science of healing, or in the practice of
