404            JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 16,

Which was rejected.

Mr. Belt proposed the following amendment:
Add the following section to the bill:

And he it enacted, that this act shall not take effect until
the Commissioners of Tax of Baltimore county and the Mayor
and Common Council of Baltimore city shall accept the same
and shall also approve the course proposed herein for said
road, and before the said Council and Commissioners shall
be authorised to accept such act they shall ascertain a majori-
ty of property holders within one mile of the proposed road,
on either side of the same, to he favorable to the same. And
when said acceptance shall be certified to the Governor this
act shall take effect.                                                           

Which was rejected.

The said bill was then read a second time, and ordered to
be engrossed for a third reading.
