State by counsel in certain cases now pending in the Court of
Appeals, on appeal from the Criminal Court, of Baltimore
city, arising under the license laws of this State, and appro-
priating a sum of money to pay the person whom the Gover-
nor may employ as counsel for his services in such cases;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Belt, reported a bill entitled, an act to allow acknowl-
edgments of deeds, and other instruments, to be made before
Clerks of Courts, Registers of Wills, and other officers ;
Which was read the first time and referred to the committee
on Judiciary.

A call of the House was ordered, when it appeared that
thirty-seven members were present.
The door-keeper was sent after the absent members.

Further proceedings under the call of the House, were dis-
pensed with.

Was read the second time, by special order the third time,
