Mr. Eakle presented a petition from 53 citizens of Wash-
ington county, praying the passage of a law to authorise the
county commissioners to appoint one tax collector in each
election district of said county.

Referred to the Washington county delegation.

Mr. Johnson presented a petition from 40 citizens of Fred-
erick county, that such steps may be taken by the Legislature
as will protect George W. Strasburger, John A. Warfield,
William H. Smith and Isaiah Baker, from the prosecution
pending against them in Pennsylvania for kidnapping:

Referred to the special committee already appointed on that
subject.

Also, a petition from sundry citizens of Frederick county,
in relation to injuries inflicted on their crops;

Referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Also, a petition from Joseph Scholl and 41 citizens of Fred-
erick county, for the better regulating of fences:

Referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Mr. Kessler presented a petition from Frederick county,
Buckeyestown district, praying that certain individuals there-
in named, be set off to Jefferson district, by certain metes
and bounds;

Referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Mr. Roop presented a memorial of 63 citizens of Carroll
county, praying the passage of an act to incorporate the Bal-
timore and Liberty Turnpike company;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.

On motion of Mr. Salmon,

Leave was granted the committee on Agriculture to re-
port a bill to amend article 30th, section 67th, so as not to
apply to fox-hunting.

On motion of Mr. Chaplain,

Leave was granted the Talbot county delegation to in-
troduce a bill for the relief of the sureties on the bond of John
D. Nabb, former State tax collector of Talbot county;

Mr. Freanor offered the following:

Ordered, That the stenographer employed by the commit-
tee on Elections be allowed a sum not exceeding twenty dol-
lars per diem for every day the said stenographer may be en-
gaged in serving said committee.
