The House met. Present at the call of the roll the following

On motion of Mr. Hall,
The reading of the Journal was dispensed with.
Mr. Frazier, chairman of the Committee on Claims, reported
favorably on a bill entitled, an act appropriating a sum of money
to compensate Henry May, of Baltimore city, for legal services
rendered to the State in the Circuit Courts for Allegany and
Washington counties, in the years 1852 and 1853, at the request
of the Governor.
Mr. Whitby from the Select Committee reported favorably on a
bill entitled, a supplement to an act to incorporate a company for
building a bridge over Choptank river, at or near Denton Ferry,
passed at December session 1811, chapter 136, and supplement
thereto;
And on a bill entitled, an act to make valid the official bond of
William G. Nicholson, Register of Wills for Caroline county,
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following message:
By the Senate,
March 7th, 1856,
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
We have received your message asking to withdraw your mes-
sage of the 6th inst., declining to concur in the appointment of
the joint committee to take into consideration the appointment of
a committee to sit during the recess of the Legislature to examine
the work of the commissioners appointed to codify the laws, and
herewith return the same.
