Mr. Stack, from the select committee, reported a bill entitled,
an act to direct the Orphans' Court of Caroline county in the dis-
tribution of the School fund of said county,          

Which was read the first time.

The order of the day being         

A bill entitled, an act to authorize the devises or bequests of
Mary E. A. Reed, of Caroline county, to the trustees of the
Methodist Episcopal Church, of St. John's Parish, both in said
county.                                    

On motion of Mr. Harris,                                    

The further reading of the bill was postponed, and it was re-
ferred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Merrick presented a letter from Elizabeth Dickson, ob-
jecting to the passage of a law giving the consent of the Legis-
lature to certain bequests in the will of Mary E. A. Reed;

Which was read.                        

                     

A bill entitled, an act to authorize the devise and bequests of
Margaret A. Ward, to the Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal
Church at Kingston and Merumsco in Somerset county;             

                                                                         

Mr. Daniel offered the following amendment:

Strike out the words "and directed" in 5th line of first section;
Which was adopted.                                                 

The said bill, as amended, was then read the third time and

passed by yeas and nays as follows:
