The following message from the Executive was then received
at the hands of Nathaniel Cox. Esq., Secretary of State :

                 [See Document A.]             

Mr. Goldsborough offered the following order;

Ordered, That the reading of the Message be suspended, and
that three thousand copies be printed for the use of the House.
Which was read :                         

On motion of Mr. Roberts,
The order was laid on the table.
The Clerk resumed the reading of the message.

Mr. Harrington offered the following order,

Ordered, That until the House shall finally dispose of the question
of printing, that the Speaker be authorized to have the printing
of this House performed.

Which was read and adopted :

Mr. Rankin offered the following order,

Ordered, That His Excellency, the Governor be respectfully
requested to cause the National Flag to be displayed from the top
of the State House steeple on the 8th of January, in commemo-
ration of the victory achieved by the American troops commanded
by General Jackson, over the British forces, on the 8th of Janua-
ry 1815, at New Orleans.

Which was read and adopted,
Mr. Bowie offered the following order ;                                 

Ordered, That three thousand copies of the Governor's Mes-
sage be printed for the use of this house.

Which was read :

Mr. Partridge moved to amend the order by striking out
"three" and inserting "one."

Mr. Roberts moved to amend by striking out "three" and in-
serting "five ;"

Which was determined in the negative.

The question recurring on striking out "three" and inserting
"one" it was withdrawn by Mr. Partridge by leave of the House.

The question was then taken on the order; and it was adop-
ted.                       
On motion of Mr. Lester,                             
The House adjourned until Monday at 12 o'clock, noon.
