INTRODUCTION OF BILLS.
By Mr. Frick: Senate Bill No. 660, entitled "An Act to em-
power the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore to issue the
stock of said corporation to an amount not exceeding one
million dollars for the purpose of acquiring by purchase, con-
demnation or otherwise, land for public school buildings and
of constructing or reconstructing public school buildings. "
[Which was read the first time and referred to the City Sena-
tors. ]
By Mr. Frick: Senate Bill No. 661, entitled "An Act to
authorize and empower the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more to issue its stock to an amount not exceeding two million
dollars ($2, 000, 000) for the purpose of defraying the costs and
expenses of condemning, laying out, opening, extending, widen-
ing, straightening, closing, grading, paving and curbing any
street, avenue, lane or alley, or part thereof, in the Annex por-
tion of said city, and for establishing the building lines and
the width of the sidewalks on any street, avenue, lane or alley,
or part thereof, in said Annex portion of the city; to authorize
the submission of an ordinance to that end to the legal voters
of the City of Baltimore; to constitute the Commissioners for
Opening Streets a commission to carry out said work, and de-
fining the powers and duties and the procedure of such com-
mission; and providing also for the improvement of the side-
walks in said Annex portion of the city at the expense of the
property-owners; and to authorize the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Baltimore, by ordinance, to delegate to the Paving Com-
mission of Baltimore city any or all of the duties and func-
tions of the commission in this Act provided for. " [Which

By Mr. Chesley, by request: Senate Bill No. 662, entitled
"An Act to provide for the erection and maintenance of tele-
phone poles and wires and installations of telephones, and the
rendition of service by the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone
Company, under certain conditions, in the State of Maryland. "
